THE MINOR ARCANA The minor arcana were added at a much later date and consists of 56 cards. It consists of four suits - wands, pentacles, clubs, swords. The court cards consist of king, queen, knight, page and ace. The court cards usually represent people. The aces are the beginning of the sequence of the ten cards of a suit of the minor arcana. They may also represent the different seasons. The other cards of the minor arcana are the situation cards which are numbered 11 to X. These cards are not used in our readings unless specifically asked for as the readings take much longer and they do cost more. Anyone wishing one should email me for the price.
REVERSE CARDS When the tarot is reversed in a spread the meaning becomes very different. Usually it will indicate the negative or opposite of the upright card. For example when the lovers card is upright it means faithfull but when it is reversed it means unfaithfull. Another example may be the magician card, which when upright may mean talented but when reversed may mean no talent.
The reverse meaning helps establish the line of direction the inquirer is headed for.
Choose your method
There are three different spreads listed below for you to choose from.
- The first method is the 'Celtic Cross No.1'
There are many variations of the Celtic Cross 10 card layout. This is a slightly more modern version than most.
- The second is the 'Celtic Cross No.2'
This is a slightly older version of the 10 card spread used in method No.1. this 'traditional style of reading has been popularised by many writers over the years.
- The third, the 'English' method.
This is a 15 card layout which is said to have originated in England, although the display method is similar to the others.
